The following information is presented in order to provide a safe and secure environment for our residents.
Family and Friends
No matter how much care Intercommunity Care Center
provides, you are the important person in the resident's life.
Nothing the staff can do means as much as a visit, a letter, an outing in your car or a snack you have
brought from home. Please feel free to participate in any of the resident activities.
Communication
In order to foster good communication we have instituted
the following:
-
Resident Council: The Resident Council meets monthly, has its own officers and provides a forum for
the residents to make suggestions concerning facility operation.
Visiting Hours
Visiting hours are from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from
6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. These times have been scheduled to preserve the privacy of our residents. If these
times are inconvenient, you may call to arrange a visit in the lobby of the facility.
Clothing/Personal Belongings
It is important that each resident has at least
four complete changes of clothing. This should include:
- For Ladies: Dresses, pants, blouses, slips, bras, stockings, slippers, shoes, and two pairs of pajamas.
- For Men: Trousers, shirts, underwear, socks, slippers, shoes and two pairs of pajamas.
Please remember that all clothing must be washable in an institutional setting. It is wise to remember that
clothing generally needs to be replaced every three months. All clothing should be marked by means of sewing
labels or permanent laundry ink and brought to the office for delivery to the resident's closet. Personal
articles such as eyeglasses, dentures, photographs, etc. should be clearly marked. These items are frequently
lost or misplaced. Proper identification will make their return more likely.
Personal Property
The facility will make reasonable efforts to safe guard
personal property. Family members and friends should become familiar with the facility's theft and loss control
program. Due to the mental confusion of many of our residents, belongings easily become lost or misplaced.
Strict adherence to the loss control program will help with this problem. The facility will not be liable for either
damages to or loss of personal property of the resident except with respect to facility personnel or as required
by law.
Cigarettes
All smoking is controlled and conducted by staff members. Please
do not smoke in the facility, the patios or garden areas. Never give or leave smoking materials with a resident.
Food Items
Check to see if there are any dietary restrictions ordered by the
physician. If food is brought in, please bring only the amount that can be consumed during your stay.
Medications
All medications will be given by a licensed nurse. Do not bring in
any medications, including over-the-counter items such as aspirin, Tums, etc., unless requested to do
so by a nurse.
Passes
A resident may, with the attending physician's order, leave the facility
for a specific length of time. The "Pass Book" must be completed and signed before leaving the facility.
Twenty-four hour notice must be given if pass medications need to be prepared by the pharmacy. Please
remember to complete and sign the "Pass Book" again upon your return.
Plants
Certain plants such as deffenbachias and several others are
poisonous and should never be left in the facility. Other plants and flowers should be in plastic containers.
Charges
A complete list of charges including room and board, laundry, beauty
shop, central supply, etc. is available from the business office. Statements are mailed on the last day of the
month and are due and payable upon receipt. Interest may be charged, at the rate of 1% percent per month,
on all accounts 25 or more days overdue.
